A Slice of Life

Raycop Antibacterial Vacuum

Have you ever seen a picture of a Dust Mite? Eww. They’re disgusting. Did you know that they live and thrive in your mattress? Think about sleeping on top of these critters. And not only are the Dust Mites in your mattress, their waste products are also piling up. It’s enough to make your stomach turn. Just vacuuming your mattress is not enough to get rid of these little guys.

Even if the thought of these critters doesn’t bother you, think about the health effects dust mites and germs have on you and your family. Asthma and other serious illnesses can be greatly affected by dust and bacteria.

Before I get into the actual product, here are a few facts about Dust Mites. They eat dead skin, which we are always shedding. Most beds are like a huge condominium complex, housing millions of these guys. They are smaller than a grain of sand, live for about 80 days and secrete about a thousand pieces of waste. They do not practice birth control and each female adds about 25 new mites to the colony per week.

Think about your beds and pillows. Did you know that about 10 per cent of the weight of a two-year-old pillow is simply the Dust Mites and their feces? And a 10-year-old mattress weighs twice its original weight due to these guys.

Now, about the Raycop. The Raycop is an easy-to-use hand held unit that will take care of dust mites as well as bacteria and germs. The unit has three components. The UV Light sterilizes and kills 99.9 per cent of bacteria. It also kills Dust Mites and germs. The Vibrating Pad shakes free the Dust Mites which attach deep down in your mattress, pillows, couches and chairs. And the Vacuum removes them once and for all.

The Ultraviolet Light emits electromagnetic waves. The UV-C is a short range radiation considered a germicidal UV which affects bacteria, viruses and micro-organisms. The Raycop UV technology destroys their ability to multiply. In a study, just a two-second burst of UV Light from the Raycop even killed 99.9 percent of E-coli and Staphylococcus aureus, which is a staph infection found in human noses and on their skin. This is truly a germ fighting product, when used responsibly and with care.

The Vacuum itself contains a Primary Filter as well as a Micro Allergy filter for the safe removal of Dust Mites, their droppings, and bacteria.

With just the push of a button, you can turn it on and select which options you want to use. You can simply vacuum, and/or you can kill the bacteria with the UV light, and/or you can also use the vibrating pad. The unit will turn itself off when it is not in the proper position, which is flat on a surface. The options are vibrating, sterilizing, and vacuuming or just sterilizing and vacuuming, or just sterilizing.

I put the unit through a great test in my house. First, I went straight for my mattress. After reading about Dust Mites, I wanted those little fellows completely out of my bed. Following the directions, I easily covered the mattress and felt much better about getting into bed. But I didn’t stop there. I tightly held out the dust ruffle so it was parallel to the floor as the unit must be in a flat position. Slowly I went around my bed and cleaned the dust ruffle. Then I cleaned the pillows.

Feeling confident I took the Raycop into my family room where I attempted to do the same for my couch. Unfortunately, the UV Light didn’t work on my couch because it is too dark. It only works on light colored fabric. But knowing my bed was cleaned was a great feeling.

In this day and age, eliminating as many germs from my house as I can is the key. After all, we use anti-bacterial soap. It only makes sense to sterilize our beds, pillows, and furniture. And since we have a clean bed, many symptoms such as stuffy noses at night are gone.

To keep the Dust Mites out of your mattress, you must continue to use the Raycop. Just a few minutes every week or once a month will keep the Dust Mites away, and now, in the cold and flu season, killing bacteria and germs on your soft surfaces will help keep your family healthier.

If you have an asthma or allergy sufferer in your household, I definitely recommend this product.
