A Slice of Life
by Francine Brokaw
"4"
Uniting music and cultures through Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” this documentary travels the world to bring viewers a captivating experience of the four seasons. Violinists around the globe each explain the musical piece and play the four selections while their countries are shown and their cultures revealed.
Whether it’s the explosion of cherry blossoms in springtime in Tokyo, the gathering clouds in the northern region of Australia in the summertime, the changing leaves in a New York City autumn, or the cold, icy Lapland winter, Vivaldi’s music blends with the seasons for a beautiful global experience.
Not only are there images of the lands, but the musicians and the residents explain their surroundings and their cultures making this a grand international event.
“4” can be seen on The Documentary Channel April 3 at 8 PM.
